We’ve always been taught to compete in the workplace. That by being “better” than others we will get a bigger piece of the pie. The only time we’re taught about collaboration is in school when working on group projects.
This competition mentality as it relates to work slowly starts to seep into our personal lives. Pretty soon we’re competing with loved ones in hopes of having our lives measure up with theirs. None of this is malicious, but what competition does is stop us from developing meaningful relationships.
Now, I choose collaboration over competition.
